At the heart of our analytics is a framework that maps workplace experience from the employee’s perspective. The Workplace Mix is a peer-reviewed, holistic framework for measuring workplace experience, built on 30+ academic papers. It outlines four core themes and sixteen sub-themes, training our AI in the nuances of workplace experience.
Imagined as a series of layers, starting from a broad perspective our ‘SPACE’ section starts from a broad view of the location of work before arriving at the components of that location.
Location
The geographic location of work and the impact it has.
Settings
The spaces and enviroments people work in
Features
Specific elements of your work setting e.g. furniture
Services
Amenities available where they are working
Culture is notoriously difficult to articulate, never mind measure. But we like a Seth Godin’s simple idea that ‘PEOPLE’ like us, do things like this.
Community
Who employees work with
Drivers
Why they work the way they do
Activities
What employees do to get work done
Behaviours
How they go about their work
Work very rarely happens without some sort of technology being used along the way. Reusing the ideas of layers, we use four components to understand how people experience technology.
Hardware
The geographic location of work and the impact it has.
Software
The spaces and enviroments people work in
Connectivity
Specific elements of your work setting e.g. furniture
IT Support
Amenities available where they are working
The ‘BUSINESS’ element of our framework looks at the outcomes that organisations are looking for and allows us to tie aspects of workplace experience to those outcomes.
Performance
How work is going at an organisation
Reputation
Attractiveness of an organisation to work with
Appeal
Attractiveness of an organisation to work for
Impacts
How working at an organisation affects people
Connect the workplace dots
The Workplace Mix™ comes to life when you start to spot theconnections and relationships between the different themes and sub-themes andunderstand their impact.
Unite teams around workplace experience
Whilst this framework provides the academic backbone for the Audiem platform, it has also been used by several organisations to bring together previously disparate teams around a common understanding of workplace experience.
